Welcome!
Trevor Debth here, the founder of The Blog Village, an online community that teaches people how to create, grow and monetize their blog and more. Beyond that, it's about a community of like-minded individuals working together to encourage, provide accountability and ensure that every member is on the pathway to success!
Regardless of whether you are just starting out and don't have a domain name, or have been blogging for years, every blogger has a home at The Blog Village.
My Journey
An Iowa native, I began my career as an independent multimedia professional in 2000 in Los Angeles, CA. Over the next decade I honed my skills in photography, video editing, cinematography, web design and application development. In 2011 I joined the Nordstrom corporate leadership team.
Over the next four years I was fortunate to have the opportunity to build the application and infrastructure that drives the photography workflow for the entire Nordstrom online website and photo studios to this day.
During my time at Nordstrom, my amazing wife, Jennifer, decided to start a food blog, Show Me the Yummy. We were both passionate about food and it was something that she had always wanted to try. The only problem was... neither of us knew anything about blogging.
Over the course of the next eight months, we stumbled around, read everything about blogging/social media/monetization, joined any blogging membership site we could find, got frustrated, learned a ton and in the end grew our blog to be quite successful.
This is where it gets interesting...
I quit my job at Nordstrom.
I wanted to focus on something that I was passionate about and that could be our own. I went into overdrive helping with the blog and starting to sketch out what it would look like to create a membership site that would have guided us when we had started and continue to grow. Make it clear, what to do when and how to do it. Give people the power to choose how they wanted to learn while keeping them on track to success. Build a community encouraging people to engage and help each other become successful. Use my experience in technology to provide tools and efficiencies so that people could focus more on the thing that they loved.
That sketched out idea eventually got a name, The Blog Village.
Today, I am proud to say that we are happy, have a successful food blog, Show Me the Yummy, and I am looking forward to seeing all of the blogs that become a part of The Blog Village grow to be successful as well!
